ALBA Berlin beat Bayern Munich 58 – 71 on the road to take a 2-0 lead in the German League Finals. The Albatrosses can finish the job in Berlin, while Bayern has to play “do-or-die” matches from now on.
In a low-scoring affair, Jaleen Smith (13 points), Maodo Lo (13 points) and Luke Sikma (11 points, five rebounds) led the way for ALBA while only DeShaun Thomas (13 points) finished in double figures from Bayern.
ALBA began assuming control in the second quarter to close halftime up 26 – 38. The visiting side retained a double-digit advantage that often flirted with the 20-point margin while Bayern was unable to score enough to make any comeback effort.
Bayern just dropped the deficit below 10 with 1:21 to play when Augustin Rubit scored for the 56 – 64. It was too late to change anything since Lo responded immediately and ALBA didn’t face any problems in crunch time.
