By Ken Hissner: At the Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Verona, New York, Friday over Showbox, the New Generation and Lou DiBella (DiBella Entertainment) feature in the Main Event unbeaten 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist heavyweight Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan and Brooklyn, New York knocked out Jack Mulowayi of Dem Rep of Congo and Antwerpen, Belgium, in 8 rounds.
In the Main Event southpaw 6:07” Bakhodir Jalolov, 11-0 (11), #251, of Sariosiyo, UZB, and Brooklyn, NY, knocked out Jack Mulowayi, 11-3-1 (7), #242, of Dem Rep of Congo and Antwerpen, BELG, at 1:20 of the eighth and final round.
In the third round Jalolov with a 90-14 record in the amateurs, was the big favorite. A left from Jalolov landed a left cross to the chin driving Mulowayi back several steps. In the fourth round, Referee Benjy Esteves, Jr. took a point from Jalolov for hitting behind the head of Mulowayi.
In the sixth round’s final seconds, a left from Jalolov followed by a short right dropped Mulowayi getting an 8-count from referee Esteves as the bell sounded. In the eighth round, Jalolov landed two lefts on the chin, driving Mulowayi to the canvas down and out without a count from referee Esteves.
In the co-feature heavyweight, George “Gentleman” Arias, 18-0 (7), #219 ½, of San Francisco de Marcoris, DR and Bronx, NY, defeated Alante Green, 10-1-1 (7), #223, of Cleveland, OH, over eight lackluster rounds.
In the first round third round, the action picked up with Garcia pressing the taller Green to the ropes in the final minute. In between rounds, Arias was given a small white pill by his trainer. From the fourth through the sixth, Arias outworked Green for the most part in a lackluster fight up to that point.
In the seventh round, Arias worked the body of Green in taking another round. In the eighth and final round Green turned southpaw, countering the oncoming Arias having his best round turning back to orthodox in the final minute. The referee was Charlie Fitch. Scores were 78-74 Arias, 77-75 Green, and 77-75 Arias, with this writer 78-74 Arias.
Lightweight Tyler “Short Fuse” Tomlin, 13-1 (9), #134, of Ashland City, TN, was stopped by Chann Thonson, 11-0 (8), #132 ½, of Brossard, Quebec, CAN, at 1:01 of the fifth round of a scheduled eight rounds.
In the third round, Thonson hurt Tomlin with a left to the chin followed by a combination on the chin of Tomlin having him in trouble, but he managed to get through the round.
In the fourth round, Tomlin came back well, having Thonson in the corner landing a flurry of punches. In the fifth round, a hard right from Thonson opened a cut over the right eye of Tomlin, causing the blood to flow. Seconds later, a right uppercut on the chin from Thonson had Tomlin hurt enough that the Referee, Mark Nelson, called in the ring physician, who called a halt to the fight.
