By Charles Brun: Francis Ngannou suspects that Tyson Fury has been playing dirty pool by fighting with gloves with less padding in his fight, and he says thinks “he cheats” and he’s not going to allow that to happen to him when he faces the unbeaten heavyweight in their 10 round crossover event on October 28th on TNT Sports & ESPN+ PPV in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The massive 6’4″, 263-lb Ngannou says he’s heard things about Fury’s opponents complaining about his gloves, and he’s going to make sure they’re checked thoroughly before their fight.
Deontay Wilder had issues with Fury’s gloves, with the way they were flapping around, as if they were slipping off of his hands, enabling him to hit him with his fists by the lower part of the glove.
What’s unclear is why the referee wasn’t notified about Fury’s gloves during the fight with Wilder because, indeed, the action would have been halted so Tyson’s gloves could be put back on his hand and retaped.
“He’s very tricky with his gloves. I think he cheats. We are talking about it with the team, and they’re like, ‘Oh, there’s the UK Commission with the gloves.’ I’m like, ‘Bro, we’re going to get there, we need every glove to be checked,’” said Francis Ngannou to Rogan about Tyson Fury’s gloves.
Fury looked woefully out of shape during their recent kickoff press conference, nothing like the bulked-up fighter he’d been for his second fight with Deontay Wilder in February 2020.
“If you want us to fight bare hands, bare-knuckle, let’s go bare-knuckle,” Ngannou continued. “But don’t give me 10-ounce gloves, and [you] wear 8-ounce or 6-ounce gloves because he has no protection. No. But his opponent [have] complained about the gloves.
If Fury doesn’t trim off some of that fat by October 28th, Ngannou has a chance of winning because he looks like a textbook example of a retired fighter who is living the high life, eating & drinking whatever he pleases, stuffing his food vacuole with whatever is handy.
It’s like what you’d picture from a person sitting on a fortune of $65 million, without a care in the world, no longer facing cutting-edge competition, yet still making money hand over fist due to his loyal following.
“We have to check that. It’s been more than once that people talk about his gloves,” said Ngannou.
The best thing Ngannou can do is target Fury’s big lantern jaw because he’s been on the canvas multiple times during his fights with Wilder.
Fury’s punch resistance is shot, and he seems to have lost his nerve as well since the third fight with Deontay. You hate to say it, but Wilder ruined Fury, turning him into the shiftless, flabby, prematurely-aged fighter he’s become.
