By Sam Volz: Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero believes Ryan Garcia can knockout Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis if he lands one of his powerful left hooks that he’s become famous for during his short six-year professional career.
Rolly knows what it’s like to share the ring with the WBA ‘regular lightweight champion Tank Davis, giving him a lot of problems through five rounds before getting caught with a big shot that he never saw coming in the sixth round last month on May 28th.
The undefeated #2 WBC, #6 WBA, and #9 IBF Ryan is fighting next month against Javier Fortuna on July 16th on DAZN. If Ryan (22-0, 18 KOs) wins that fight, he could face Tank Davis on Showtime PPV in November or December in a mega-bout.
There’s a huge amount of interest from boxing fans in seeing Ryan challenge Tank for his WBA belt. The winner could take on undisputed 135-lb champion Devin Haney or perhaps Rolly (14-1, 12 KOs) if he’s still campaigning at lightweight by 2023.
“Ryan Garcia knows he’s going to make it back with me ten-fold, a million-fold. He’s going to make fifty, hundred million in that fight,” said Rolly Romero to Fight Hub TV, reacting to being told that Ryan Garcia lost $20K betting on him in his fight against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
“Ryan is a real champion and he’s going for f*** Fortuna up,” said Rolly.
“He ain’t worried, he’s got money. Interest rates are f**** right now,” Rolly said when asked if he bought his mother a house yet from the money he made in his fight against Tank Davis.
“Me, honestly, I always knew I was an amazing fighter. I always knew, and I think everybody just realized that s***. Like I said, I got hit with a good shot, that’s boxing, but I sold out the mother f**** Barkleys. I promoted that s***. There’s no other mother f**** that can do that s***.
“It was just a good shot. Meldrick Taylor – Chavez, Casamayor-Marquez, all that s***,” said Rolly comparing his knockout loss against Gervonta to those stoppage losses for fighters in those two historic contests.
“I said I want a rematch. Don’t ask me silly questions,” said Rolly when asked if he wants a rematch with Tank Davis. “It’s a good fight. I want to see that fight,” Rolly said about a match between Gervonta and Ryan Garcia.
“I think Ryan Garcia is a real f*** champ, and I think Gervonta Davis is a real champ. It’s a really good fight. If Ryan Garcia catches him, he takes him out. If Tank catches him, he takes Ryan out.
“I told everybody Kambosos was a f*** joke, and got an injured Teofimo that didn’t spar for two months, and he looked like s***. Devin Haney, who is an inferior breed, a weak puncher that cannot take a shot, and he couldn’t do anything to Devin.
“Devin is a horrible fighter, a sloppy fighter. Like I said, I got caught by a lucky shot. Tank said himself that he didn’t set it up. I’ll fight anybody,” Rolly said when asked if he’d be interested in fighting Kambosos.
“Anybody that fights me is going to make a ton of money because I’ll sell out anything.
