By Robert Segal: Terence Crawford fired back at Jermall Charlo in response to the WBC middleweight champion calling him out for a fight at 154 pounds.
The unbeaten WBO welterweight champion Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs), who many believe is the #1 fighter in the 147-lb division bar none, told Jermall that he thinks he would come down to 154 to face him. However, he still views his twin brother, undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell as a “p***y.”
Crawford has made it clear that he wants to face Jermell to dethrone the four-belt champion as soon as he finishes his business at 147 by defeating IBF/WBA/WBC champion Errol ‘The Truth’ Spence Jr. later this year for the undisputed championship.
What’s strange is that Jermell (35-1-1, 19 KOs) has shown no interest in wanting to defend his belts against Crawford, which makes many boxing fans believe that he’s afraid of the unbeaten Omaha, Nebraska native.
Jermell, 32, is supposed to be the high-achieving, more ambitious of the Charlo twins, but I guess when it comes to fighting Crawford, there are limits to the risks he’s willing to take with his 14-year professional career.
😭😭😭 @FutureOfBoxing you coming down to fight me at 154 😭😭😭 bro I know you would I believe you too. But yo brother still pussy.😉

It looks bad that a middleweight the size of Jermall, who is big enough to be campaigning at 168 easily, is calling out a 147-pounder in Crawford.
We’re talking about a fighter three divisions above Crawford, given that many boxing fans view Jermall as a 168-pounder that boils down to 160 so that he can have a big-size advantage over his opponents.
It would be better if Jermall let twin brother Jermell fight his own battles against Crawford, but I guess he realizes he doesn’t want that smoke.
Hence, Jermall is volunteering to take care of Jermell’s problem by draining down to 154 to fight the much smaller Crawford.
“Terence Crawford, I’ll fight him,” said Jermall Charlo to Showtime Boxing when asked who he would like to fight if given a chance. “I’ll fight you, Terence.
“I’ll come back down to 154 to fight Terence,” said Charlo, who said he’s willing to drop down a weight class to face Crawford.
It’s unlikely that Crawford will take Jermall up on his offer to fight him at 154 because he’s focused on Spence at the moment, and after that, he will be gunning for Jermell.
If Crawford uses his WBO belt, he can force Jermell to defend against him, or he’ll need to give up the belt.
“Y’all haven’t seen that Terence isn’t versatile like you think. Them Texas boys [Spence] are different. It’s hot in Texas. We’re different,” said Jermall.
Well, there’s an excellent chance that Crawford will beat Spence, and immediately come hunting for Jermell to snatch his four titles away from him.
Unfortunately for Jermall, there’s not much he’ll be able to do about it other than to let his brother fight his own battles.
