Arsenal target Victor Osimhen showed his undoubted talent by bagging four goals for Nigeria.
The Super Eagles were competing in an African Cup Of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe, a match where they proved their superiority with a ridiculous 10-0 scoreline, a record for the nation.
As well as goals for familiar faces Ademola Lookman and Emmanuel Dennis, Osimhen popped up with four of his own, with two in the first half and two in the second.
Despite facing inferior opposition, the forward’s efforts certainly won’t have done his chances of earning a big summer move any harm.
The Napoli forward has been hugely impressive since moving to Serie A from French club Lille in 2020, scoring 28 goals in 62 appearances for the club.
That has alerted Arsenal to his services as they look for a ready-made replacement for Alexandre Lacazette, who left to join Lyon this summer.
According to reports in Italy via The Sun, The Gunners have made their interest known with a £51million offer for the 23-year-old.
However, that bid has been knocked back.
It’s claimed Napoli are hoping to attract £85million for a player who cost them £69million just two years ago.
Osimhen isn’t the only player on Arsenal’s transfer radar this summer, with talkSPORT’s Darren Bent revealing who his top target would be.
“Gabriel Jesus,” Bent told talkSPORT. “I’d like to see him go to Arsenal. I think he’d be brilliant.
“He’s not necessarily got a point to prove, but I think he needs regular football now and I think he’s more than good enough to score the goals to help Arsenal to get back to where they’d like to get to.
“So, I think that would be a really good addition to the squad.
“I’d love to see Yves Bissouma from Brighton. I can’t believe no one has bought him.
“I think they’re talking about £50-60 million. I think he’s a top-drawer holding midfield player.
“I love Thomas Partey but he’s had injuries and consistency has been a problem. But he’s durable, Yves Bissouma, so I’d like to see him come through the door.
“And Christopher Nkunku from Leipzig. He’d cost a lot.
“I think there’s talk about him going back to Paris Saint-Germain, but I love him.
“I think he fits the bill. He can play as a centre-forward, he can play off the left, and he can play off the right.
“I know two out of those three are attack-minded, so maybe we should be concentrating on another pair of fullbacks.”
