Chelsea have been urged to go and sign Robert Lewandowski as the Blues are all about the ‘here and now’.
They splashed out £97.5million to re-sign Romelu Lukaku last summer from Inter Milan, but things have not quite worked out.
He was Chelsea’s top scorer, but just 15 goals in all competitions was significantly less than they were expecting.
The Blues are reportedly in talks with Inter over a loan move back for Lukaku and that would mean they would need to dip into the transfer market for another striker.
Former Chelsea defender Scott Minto thinks Lewandowski would be the perfect addition that would fit their win-now approach.
The Poland striker wants to leave Bayern Munich, and could get his wish if the Bundesliga club sign Sadio Mane.
Lewandowski still has a year left on his contract and Barcelona are keen to sign him at a cut price fee.
They still may not be able to afford his wages, thought to be in excess of £400,000-a-week.
Manchester United are said to be interested in joining the race, but Chelsea could also be a possible rival.
Minto told talkSPORT: “I personally would like to see Tuchel somehow have the conversation with Lukaku and say ‘what do we need to do to get the best out of you’.
“It’s not going to happen. We know that. Tuchel has said it’s not about us adjusting to him, he has to adjust to us. It has clearly not happened.
“Lewandowski would be absolutely superb in the short term. Even if he’s on a two-year contract, he might get away with a three.
“He’s proven right now. Chelsea are all about the here and now, they have been for the last two decades.”
