Liverpool have rejected a second and improved bid from Bayern Munich for Sadio Mane, talkSPORT understands.
The Bundesliga champions have raised their £25million offer to a potential £30m, but it is still not enough to tempt the Premier League giants.
Mane, 30, has one year remaining on his current Reds deal and recent comments from the Senegal international have hinted at an Anfield departure.
Liverpool are also thought to be lining up possible replacements, including £85m-rated Benfica forward Darwin Nunez.
However, the £120m sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in 2018 shows what it takes for the Reds to part with their best players.
And ex-England international Trevor Sinclair insists they will not be held to random by Bayern.
“No player, in my memory, leaves Liverpool on their terms,” Sinclair told White and Jordan on talkSPORT.
“Liverpool let players go for a lot of money, or they keep them. It shows the power of the club.
“Mane is 30, if we’re talking about Harry Kane being worth £150m at 29, Mane at £40m would be a snip.
“He’s a great player, he gives everything, he never gets injured, he turns up in big games.
“I’m not surprised Bayern are trying to get him cheap, but Liverpool won’t have it. I think he’s their most important player.”
