‘S*** f***ing game!’: Chelsea owner Todd Boehly makes his frustration known with a brutal assessment of their 2-2 draw against Everton… after Graham Potter’s side threw away TWO leads and conceded an 89th-minute equaliser in blow to European hopes

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly could not hide his frustration after watching his side concede a late equaliser in their 2-2 draw against Everton on Saturday.

After winning their last three games in all competitions, Graham Potter’s team looked on course for another victory when they went in front through Joao Felix early in the second half.

Everton hit back through Abdoulaye Doucoure, but a Kai Havertz penalty 14 minutes from time looked to have sealed all three points for the Blues. There was more drama to come, though, as Ellis Simms came off the bench to rescue a point for the Toffees with a fine finish in the 89th minute.

Potter admitted afterwards his side failed to control the latter stages of the contest, and Boehly’s assessment was even more brutal. As the American left Stamford Bridge, he was asked by a fan for his thoughts on the match, and swiftly replied: ‘S*** f***ing game!’

The result leaves Chelsea in 10th place, 11 points outside the Champions League places, and they are in real danger of missing out on European football altogether.

The Blues are four points behind seventh place, which is likely to be the final European spot, and Brighton have two games in hand on them.

Potter was under significant pressure at the start of the month after a run of just two wins in 15 matches left the Chelsea board split over whether he was the right man to take the club forward.

However, wins over Leeds, Borussia Dortmund and Leicester appeared to have turned the tide.

He also drew praise from fans earlier this week for showing more personality at a club event when he insisted ‘we’ll try to win the f***ing Champions League!’.

Potter looked to be slowly winning the fans over, but dropping points at home to a relegation-threatened Everton represents the latest setback for the 47-year-old who’s endured a difficult first six months in west London since replacing Thomas Tuchel.

He will be hoping to bounce back after the international break, with Chelsea set to host Liverpool at the start of next month, before facing defending champions Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals the following week.
