Ludvig Aberg doesn’t give up on The RSM Classic 2023, the last seasonal tournament on the PGA Tour. The Swede still looks down on everyone after a day in which low scores and many birdies dominated. The Swede leads with his overall score -20 and after two rounds in which the ranking was very short, the third round served to give the golfers a boost with one of the Ryder Cup heroes who will be hunting for his first title on the American circuit today.

Ludvig Aberg, results

Aberg was the author of a magnificent bogey free round with the card of him scoring seven birdies and an eagle for a total of -9. The 1999 class player, after gaining a stroke on the 5th, 7th and 9th, literally went wild in the final round, finding a sequence of four birdies in five holes interspersed with an eagle on the par 5 of the 15th.

A wild Swede also really went one step away from the hole in one on 17, when his tee shot stopped a few inches from rolling directly into the hole. Aberg is closely followed by the American Eric Cole who with -19 is just one shot away from the leader.

Cole was also the author of a magnificent 61 which allows him to keep first place after several important placings achieved in recent months. In Georgia, however, that of the first two was not the best round of the day because the Canadian Mackenzie Hughes (-18) was also present in the same match and on the green on the 18th he missed the putt for 59 and had to settle for a 60 resulting from eight birdie and an eagle on the usual par 5 of the 15th (clearly the easiest hole on the course).

On the par 70 course of the Sea Island Golf Club in fourth position at -17 is the American Tyler Duncan, the third of the top four who in the last lap will go in search of his first victory on the Tour. Then there is a small hole and you have to go down to -15 to find Sam Ryder, while in sixth position at -14 are the Americans Greyson Sigg and Denny McCarthy.

Closing the top-10 in eighth place with -13 is a large group of players made up of Kevin Tway, Ryan Moore, Alex Noren, Vince Whaley. Matt NeSmith, Robert Streb, Peter Kuest and Austin Eckroat. A final high-voltage lap now awaits us to close a long and exhausting season before thinking about a 2024 with big changes.
