Ludvig Aberg secured his first PGA Tour win at the RSM Classic. Even though he’d already proven his talent early in his career, many still had their doubts about him. But this young Swede played at the Ryder Cup and showed he’s got what it takes to be a top golfer.
When Luke Donald decided to pick him, some golf fans didn’t get it and really criticized Donald’s choice. They thought it was too soon for Aberg to be on the Ryder Cup team. But looking back, it seems Donald made a smart move.
The captain of the European team shared his thoughts on X and congratulated Aberg on the win. Donald always had faith in him and knew he was destined for big things
“Anyone paying attention knew the unlimited potential of Ludvig,” wrote Donald on X.
“He showed that at Crans and now again dominating in Sea Island this week. Congratulations to you, Jack and your whole team, the sky is the limit.”
Aberg could not hide his happiness after such an important victory.
From the earliest days of his career, he firmly believed in himself and that he could build a great career. Luke Donald’s call gave him a wind at his back, especially when criticism followed. In an interview with the media, Aberg confirmed that everything is still “fresh and new” to him.
“I still pinch myself in the morning when I wake up to kind of realize that this is what I do for a job. It’s been so much fun. It’s kind of beyond my dreams,” -Aberg said after his amazing victory. “This is the sport that I love and the sport that I’m going to love for a very long time. Watching these events from a very young age is what I’ve done, so to see myself win is really cool.”
