Lionel Messi enjoys the final days of his Caribbean ‘vacay’ before he heads to Inter Miami on Tuesday to sign up with David Beckham’s MLS team
Lionel Messi has been enjoying the final few days of his vacation in the Caribbean before he heads to Miami to start life in Major League Soccer.
The Argentina World Cup winner has been resting up with his wife, Antonela, before he heads to Miami for the next instalment of his career.
He shared a picture with his 477million Instagram followers on Sunday by a pool with an ocean view, captioned ‘vacay’.
The 36-year-old Messi is expected to land in Miami Tuesday, where he will finalize the terms of his deal with his new team and officially sign.
He is then going to be unveiled as a Miami player on Sunday, alongside his former Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets who is following him to the United States.

Jordi Alba, the former Barcelona defender who is also now a free agent, is expected to follow the pair and join Miami in a string of eye-catching signings.
Miami need some star quality urgently, as well.
The team is last in the Eastern Conference and has not won in its last 10 MLS games. With 18 points from 21 games, it is eight points outside the playoff places.
Messi’s first Miami game is actually scheduled to be in the newly-formed Leagues Cup against Mexican team Cruz Azul on July 21.
Inter Miami are co-owned by David Beckham, who recently spoke out of his pride at landing a player of Messi’s magnitude.
‘A couple of weeks ago, I woke up to about a million messages on my phone,’ said Beckham. ‘I was thinking, “What’s gone off? I don’t usually get this many messages”. All of a sudden, I hear Leo has come out and announced he’s coming to Miami.
‘Obviously, it wasn’t a surprise to me. I have always said, from the word go, that if I had the opportunity to bring the best players in the game to Miami, at whatever time of their careers, I would do that. I have always made that commitment to our fans.
‘So when I hear that one of the best players — if not the best player — who has won everything in the game, who is still a great player, still young and still doing what he’s doing, wants to play for my team, it’s a massive moment for us.’
