LEVI COLWILL is expected to be back for Chelsea this weekend after missing England duty through injury.
The defender picked up a shoulder problem which ruled him out of the Blues’ action-packed 4-4 draw with Manchester City before the international break.
It also saw him drop out of the Three Lions squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.
With Gareth Southgate struggling for left-backs, Colwill would have likely featured in both games, allowing him to add to his one senior cap.
But the expectation is Colwill will have recovered in time for Chelsea’s trip to Newcastle on Saturday.
The defender has been key for Mauricio Pochettino, who likes to play him at left-back rather than his natural centre-back position.
The versatile defender earned a place in Pochettino’s side after standing out during his loan stint at Brighton last season.
The 20-year-old amassed a total of three assists in 24 appearances for the Seagulls.
The ex-Huddersfield ace’s impressive performances at the AmEx Stadium led to major opportunities at Chelsea.
Colwill has become a regular in the Argentinean tactician’s starting line-up.

And the centre-back has registered one assist in 14 appearances across all competitions this season.
Colwill, though, will be facing intense competition to make England’s Euro 2024 squad if Southgate sees him predominantly as a left-back option.
That is because the Three Lions’ manager has several other picks like Ben Chilwell, Luke Shaw and Rico Lewis.
